Mobile Robotic Arm


Robotics is a very interesting topic to one and all, especially for children. They are fascinated by this word and so curious about it that they would go to any extent to get hold of a robot if given a chance. We have encountered, on several occasions, students who are so curious about robotics that they would spend 15 hrs daily on making the robots. Robotics is a convergence of Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical and Information Technology. One must be conversant with these streams and must know the nuances of Mechatronics. 80% of technology jobs in the next 10 years are going to be in the field of Automation.

Hence, robotics or automation is going to touch the lives of every living person. The word robotics was derived from the word robot, which was introduced to the public by Czech writer Karel Capek in his play R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), which premiered in 1921. The word robot comes from the Slavic word robota, which is used to refer forced labor. The Robotic Arm is the most important function of a robot for lifting and placing various objects automatically in a given sequence to reduce the laborious job.

The robotic arm has several industrial applications for performing complex and precise jobs where humans tend to make error. Such an arm has also been used to perform heart surgery very recently. Several mechanisms are used in the robotic arm for bending and gripping. The Robotic arm can also be programmed using various IT languages. The most commonly used language for programming is C. The model has been created to understand the assembly and functions of a robotic arm. It can be operated remotely through IR, RF or Bluetooth. A camera can be mounted on this robotic arm to perform remote controlled operations. We invite students in the age group of 12 yrs. to 18 yrs. for an exciting workshop on robotics which will train and educate the participants on Mechatronics and Information Technology.
